knitting series 301: socks

It's time to make your own pair of socks!

In this class you will learn to knit a cozy pair of socks from the top down using worsted weight yarn. This is a great first class to learn how to knit in the round using the magic loop technique. Also great as a refresher class, if you have already made a pair come try them in a different weight yarn.

This class is for our intermediate knitters who want to learn how to knit in the round. Students need to be confident in the knit, purl and rib stitch. 

In class students will also learn how to:
- make socks for all your family and friends in all different weight yarns. 
- the anatomy of a sock and how to custom fit
- knit in the round using Magic loop or double pointed needles
- reinforce heel
- turning the heel 
- Kitchener stitch. 

Materials for class MUST be purchased from our shop.

Required Materials:

- pattern: Classic Sock #29 by Yankee Knitter, (available to purchase in the shop- coming soon) 

- yarn : 1 ball or skein of worsted weight yarn (Approx 220yds) with 15 - 20% nylon for strength. Choose from the following:

Cascade Pacific
Berroco - Vintage 
Schoppel Zauberball crazy  -Sport weight yarn ideal for 2nd pair of socks.

Please have yarn wound and ready to be knit with at the start of the class. 

Required tools: 

- needles - US5 32” or 40" circular needle for worsted weight yarn. 
 For Sport weight yarn you will need US 4-32 or 40"” circular needle for sport weight yarn.
- chibi tapestry or darning needle
- locking stitch markers, (available here)
- scissors
- notebook & pencil

Please have yarn wound and ready to be knit with at the start of the class.

There will be homework involved in order to finish your project.

If you are unable to attend, a refund will only be provided if you notify us 72 hrs in advance in writing by email, there is a waitlist for the class, AND we are able to fill your spot.  Otherwise, a credit for a future class will be issued.
