bag series: the parkview project bag
Do you ever wish your tote or project bag would just open up more so you can access everything that’s down in the bottom of it? The Parkview Project Bag is a totally unique bag designed to do just that!
Designed by our in-house brand, Studio M Squared, the Parkview's split sides allow the top of the bag to open wider than a regular tote, and even fold down completely, converting the bag to a basket of sorts! Once folded, you can much more easily find what you need in the pockets and in the bottom of the bag. The Parkview comes in two sizes - both are great for knitting or craft projects; the large bag is also perfect for the pool or beach. The approximate finished dimensions are:
- small size: 15" wide at top, 10" wide at bottom, 13" tall, 5" deep
- large size: 19" wide at top, 12.5" wide at bottom, 16" tall, 7 deep
This 2-day class is suitable for our intermediate students. Prior bag making experience is recommended, but not required. Students should be able to confidently operate + thread their sewing machine independently. Students will start off the first class with a cutting session, leaving the remainder of the first class and entirety of the second class for bag construction.
Required Materials:
- (1) Pattern: Parkview Project Bag by Studio M Squared - PDF or booklet
- main fabric: quilting cotton or canvas - small: 5/8 yd, large: 2/3 yd
- lining fabric: quilting cotton - small: 5/8 yd, large: 2/3 yd
- pocket fabric: quilting cotton - small: 1/3 yd, large: 1/2 yd
- Parkview Bag Kit: contains Soft & Stable Foam, Interfacing + Magnetic snap (available in small or large) ***
- handle: 1" or 1.5" wide cotton webbing, leather or faux leather (small: 1-1/2 yds, large: 1-3/4 yd)
- 1/4" cording - small: 2-2/3 yd, large: 3-1/3 yd
- (1) spool of thread
*** If you do not wish to purchase a Parkview Bag Kit, you will need the following:
- Small bag: Soft & Stable (58" wide) - 1/2 yd, Pellon SF101 Interfacing - 1-1/4 yds, and 3/4" magnetic snap (gunmetal or nickel available)
- Large bag: Soft & Stable (58" wide) - 2/3 yd, Pellon SF101 Interfacing - 1-2/3 yds, and 3/4" magnetic snap (gunmetal or nickel available)
Required Tools:
- rotary cutter
- acrylic ruler
- point turner
- frixion pen or tailor's chalk
- pins or clips
- large safety pin
Cancellation Policy:
If you are unable to attend the class, a refund will only be provided if you notify us 72 hours in advance in writing by email, there is a waitlist for the class, AND we are able to fill your spot. Otherwise, a credit for a future class will be issued.
No refunds or credits will be provided if you notify us less than 72 hours in advance. By registering for the class, you are agreeing to this cancellation policy.
