bag series: pepin tote
This cute tote is a "go to" bag. Whenever you need to take a water bottle, notebook or extra items for work, car trips or travel, this tote is the perfect combination of convenience and style. Suitable for beginner and experienced sewists alike, make this bag in a bright canvas, patterned canvas or a waxed canvas and choose a fun print for the quilting cotton interior. Finish it off with leather or webbing straps.
With loads of options available, you will want to make this bag over and over again.
In class we will be teaching students how to make the basic construction of the bag with the metal snap detail on the front pocket. The material requirements list below reflects what will be required for class. Other closure options are also available within the pattern.
Approximate finished dimensions: 13.5" wide x 12' tall x 4' deep
Required Materials
- (1) Pepin Tote pattern by noodlehead
- 1 yd Exterior fabric (recommended fabrics canvas or waxed canvas 7-10oz)
- 2/3yd Lining fabric (recommended quilting cotton)
- 2 yd Fusible woven interfacing - we recommend SF101. If using waxed canvas quantity of interfacing should be 1 1/4yd
- (1) size 24 metal snap
- (2) 28" x 1" wide leather OR cotton webbing straps for the handles
- (1) spool of coordinating thread
Required Tools
- Rotary Cutter and Acrylic Ruler
- Pins and/or wonder clips (pins are recommended for garment projects)
- seam ripper
- chalk or friction pen
- seam gauge
