bag series: sandhill sling
We have been waiting for this new Sandhill Sling pattern to come out from Noodlehead...and it doesn't disappoint! Its convenient sling design allows for easy access as well as being out of the way when you’re not using it. It is compact yet roomy enough for the essentials. With two views available, View A a front zippered pocket or View B a patch pocket, both come in handy for quick access to smaller items. An adjustable strap makes it easy to wear. Perfect for biking or daily use!
Required Materials:
- the Sandhill Sling pattern by noodlehead
- 5/8 yard Exterior Fabric
- 5/8 yard Lining Fabric (includes interior pocket)
- 1 ¼ yards (1 ½ if making fabric strap) Fusible Woven Interfacing (Pellon SF101)
- (1) 18” head-to-head handbag zipper (for top closure)
- (1) 10” handbag zipper (for front pocket closure View A) OR
- (1) 14mm magnetic snap/size 24 (View B)
- 1”-wide d-ring AND 1 ½”-wide strap slider AND 1 ½”-wide swivel snap
- 1 ½ yards of 1 1/2" wide cotton webbing, OR add 1/4 yard to Exterior (1 yard total) for making a fabric strap
- (1) spool of coordinating thread
Note: We've got all the required hardware available as kits HERE
For the zippers in View A you can substitute by-the-yard zipper tape, you’ll need 1 yard total and three pulls. For all zippers, the pattern assumes zipper tape width of 1 1/4”
Required Tools:
- Fabric scissors
- Pins and/or wonder clips (pins are recommended for garment projects)
- seam ripper
- chalk or friction pen
- detail scissors
All students should ensure they come to class with their fabrics purchased and cut in accordance with the pattern. This class is suitable for advanced beginner level sewists.
We have modified our classes to comply with the CDC guidelines and NJ Executive Order 152. Class sizes are limited, masks are required, and students are required to supply their own tools as identified in the tools list within the class description.
