bag series: zuri crossbody tote
Let's kick off the New Year with a fun, new bag project! Join Julie in the studio this January to make the Zuri Crossbody Tote by Knot & Thread Design!
The Zuri Crossbody Tote is the perfect blend of style and function. This tote features a quilted exterior for structure and softness, a comfortable crossbody strap for hands-free ease, two interior slip pockets to keep your essentials close, and one interior zipper pocket for secure storage. The pattern offers a small and large version but in class we'll be making the large version (our shop sample is the large version). The finished size of the large tote is 9" H x 11-1/2" W x 4-1/2" D.
During this bag series, students will practice their binding skills, installing bag hardware and work with webbing to make the handles. This class is suitable for intermediate to advanced level students who have prior bag making, quilting, and binding experience. Please note, there may be homework assigned by the instructor to complete in between classes. Students must be comfortable potentially completing the homework on their own at home.
Required Materials - Large Tote:
- (1) Pattern: Zuri Crossbody Tote by Knot & Thread Design
- main fabric: 1/2 yd of quilting cotton
- lining fabric: 1/2 yd of quilting cotton
- accent fabric: 1-5/8 yd quilting cotton (OR 1-1/8 yd if you are using webbing for the strap and handles)
- batting: (1) 18" x 24" piece
- Pellon SF101: 3/4 yd
- (1) 11" zipper
- 4 yds of 1-1/2" wide cotton webbing (for handles)
- (2) 1-1/2" triangle-rings
- (2) 1-1/2" swivel hooks
- (1) 1-1/2" strap adjuster
- (1) spool of coordinating thread
Required Tools:
- fabric scissors
- rotary cutter
- acrylic ruler
- seam ripper
- chalk or frixion marker
- pins or clips

If you are unable to attend the class, a refund will only be provided if you notify us 72 hours in advance in writing by email and there is a waitlist for the class, and we are able to fill your spot. Otherwise, a credit for a future class will be issued.
