quilting series: red house wreath
Designed using the Red House fabric line from The Original Morris & Co. for FreeSpirit fabrics, we present to you the Red House Wreath Quilt! Join Valeria in the studio this fall to make this gorgeous quilt.
The Red House Wreath quilt is sure to become an heirloom using this stunning fabric collection. The quilt features two nested center Fat Robin Compass blocks surrounded by (12) smaller Fat Robin Compass blocks and appliqued flowers and leaves, all placed on a pieced background.
This course is suitable for advanced level students, and is perfect for students who completed our 'Bohemian Plaid' class.
This 8-week course will be broken down into THREE sections, as follows:
Part 1: Mondays, 9/8, 9/15, and 9/29 (no class on 9/22)
- Part 1 will focus on learning to make the compasses with the Robin Ruth Fat Robin 16-point compass book and ruler. Students will start the first class with a cutting session to prepare the fabric for the small compasses, then begin piecing the small compasses together in the second class. The third class we'll start on the large compass. Class will then break for 2 weeks.
Part 2: Mondays, 10/20, 10/27 and 11/3
- In Part 2, students will cut their fabric for the applique (everything around the big circle). Once cutting is finished, students will move on to appliqueing the center circle block (except for the flower), cutting background fabrics for the smaller compass blocks, and applique the small compasses. During the third class of this series, students will prepare the flowers for the applique and begin appliqueing them in class. Class will break for 2 weeks.
Part 3: Mondays, 11/24 + 12/1
- Part 3 will include cutting the remainder of the fabric for the assembly of the quilt top, leaving the final class for finishing the assembly.

- (1) Project Kit: Red House Wreath
- 4 yards of Sulky Soft n Sheer non-fusible interfacing
- (1) Fat Robin 16-Point Mariner's Compass Book and Ruler Combo

- Stripology XL ruler
- Robin Ruth Angle Ruler
- rotary cutter + acrylic ruler
- fabric scissors
- seam ripper
- chalk or frixion pen
- pins or wonder clips

If you are unable to attend the class, a refund will only be provided if you notify us 72 hours in advance in writing by email, there is a waitlist for class, and we are able to fill your spot. Otherwise, a credit for a future class will be issued.
