quilting skills: the 'iconic' quilt
Join our quilting instructor, Mollie, in the studio this August to learn how to make the stunning "Iconic" Quilt by Anna Maria Parry.
This quilt is made with just two blocks - a Kaleidoscope block and a Snowball block, repeated with different fabrics. In this class you will learn how to make each block, giving you the skills and know-how to then complete the quilt at home.
A Kaleidoscope quilt block is a design that mirrors or repeats fabric shapes and colors to create a symmetrical, swirling effect, similar to the patterns seen in a kaleidoscope. These blocks are often made by diving a square into (8) wedges, resembling an eight-pointed star. A Snowball quilt block is a design where triangles are added to the corners of a larger square, creating a rounded or "snowball" effect.
This class is suitable for intermediate level students who have prior quilting experience. Students must be able to confidently thread and operate a sewing machine independently.
Required Materials:
- (1) Quilt Kit: Iconic by Anna Maria
- (1) spool of coordinating thread
Required Tools:
- rotary cutter + acrylic ruler
- fabric scissors
- seam ripper
- chalk or frixion pen
- pins or wonder clips

If you are unable to attend the class, a refund will only be provided if you notify us 72 hours in advance in writing by email, there is a waitlist for class, and we are able to fill your spot. Otherwise, a credit for a future class will be issued.
