bag series: the mondo quilted bag
One of Quiltsmart's mottos is "Easy, Fast, and Smart!" and their Mondo Bag proves to be just that! Join Pat in the studio this August to make this unique quilted tote bag and learn how to use Quiltsmart's printed interfacing panels to create perfectly matched seams.
The Mondo is super versatile and is great for a weekend travel bag, diaper bag, or even a super cute project bag. During this class, students will learn how to make a quilted tote bag using Quiltsmart printed interfacing. With this technique, all of your seams will match up effortlessly! Finished bag dimensions: 10" square bottom x 17" high.
This class is suitable for intermediate to advanced level students who have prior bag making and quilting experience. Students must be able to confidently thread and operate a sewing machine independently.
Please Note: There will be a (2)-week break in between classes and during this time students will be assigned homework to complete at home before returning back to the studio for the second and final class. Students must be comfortable to work on their own for the homework. Please keep this in mind when registering for this class. Thank you!
Required Materials:
- (1) Pattern: Quiltsmart Mondo Bag
- exterior fabric: pattern calls for (16+) 2-1/2" strips of quilting cotton; for easier cutting, we recommend buying a 5" charm pack (42 pc.) or a jelly-roll
- lining fabric: 1-1/4 yd of quilting cotton
- 1-1/4 yd of Pellon 987F fusible fleece
- (1) spool of thread
Required Tools:
- fabric scissors or rotary cutter + acrylic ruler
- seam ripper
- pins or clips
- chalk or frixion marker

If you are unable to attend the class, a refund will only be provided if you notify us 72 hours in advance in writing by email and there is a waitlist for the class, and we are able to fill your spot. Otherwise, a credit for a future class will be issued.
