bag series: the minimalist
There's a reason that this is one of Studio M Squared's bestselling patterns! The Minimalist is the perfect purse for those times when you just need to carry the essentials. Whether you're running errands or going to a sporting event, or hitting the town, you can customize it for your daily needs.
With three separate compartments and two strap options, it's super versatile! Keep your cell phone in the front pocket for quick, easy access. Stash credit cards, cash, business cards, even a passport in the main zippered compartment or in the zippered pocket on the back of the bag. Easily clip your keyring onto one of the swivel hooks and you're ready to go! Wanna go hands free? Swap out the short strap for the long strap with adjustable slider and wear it crossbody!
During this 2-week class, students will practice how to install bag hardware, sewing with zippers and attach fabric straps. This class is suitable for intermediate students who have prior bag making experience (as well as zipper experience). Students must be able to confidently thread and operate a sewing machine independently.
Finished Bag Dimensions:
- Small Bag: 4-3/8" wide x 7" tall
- Large Bag: 4-3/8" wide x 7-5/8" tall
Required Materials:
- (1) Pattern: The Minimalist by Studio M Squared
- (1) Minimalist Hardware + Interfacing Kit
- main fabric: 3/8 yd of quilting cotton (for both sizes)
- accent fabric: (1) fat quarter or 1/3 yd of quilting cotton
- (2) 7" plastic zippers
- (1) spool of coordinating thread
Required Tools:
- fabric scissors
- rotary cutter + acrylic ruler
- seam ripper
- pins and/or wonder clips
- chalk or frixion pen
- optional, but handy: 1" bias tape maker

If you are unable to attend, a refund will only be provided if you notify us 72 hours in advance in writing by email, there is a waitlist for the class, AND we are able to fill your spot. Otherwise, a credit for a future class will be issued.
