garment series: beach cover up

The perfect beach attire awaits you!  Join Erin in the studio for a 3-week morning session to make a flowy beach cover-up featuring accent trim and a waist tie.

Through the creation of this cover-up, you will gain confidence in reading and understanding a garment pattern, sewing straight and curved seams, working with lightweight fabrics, attaching bias bindings, and attaching trim. The pattern accommodates Sizes XS-XL and bust measurements from 30" up to 50".  It's a free pattern from Peppermint Magazine that we'll be hacking to add the drawstring waist tie (an additional handout will be provided in class with the pattern adjustments).

This 3-week class is suitable for advanced beginner to intermediate level students who have successfully completed AT LEAST three sewing projects prior to registering for this class.  Prior garment sewing experience is not required, but helpful! Graduates of our Garment 101 class are encouraged to give this cover-up a go!  Students must be able to confidently thread and operate a sewing machine independently.

Required Materials:
- (1) Free Pattern: Beach Cover Up by Peppermint Magazine - **see pattern note below!
- 2-1/2 yds of lightweight woven fabric
        - Sizes XS-L can use 44" or 58" wide fabric
        - Size XL must use 58" wide fabric
- 2-3 yds of cording depending on sizing
- 8 yds of decorative trim - we recommend mini pom-poms

**Pattern Note:
- For this class, we will provide the instructions and a printed-out pattern for students.  The cost of the pattern is included in the cost of class.

Recommended Fabric:
- We suggest using lightweight woven fabric, such as rayon, cotton lawn or linen.  Rayon will be slightly more challenging to work with.
- Fabric must be purchased from our shop to ensure it's appropriate to use for this project. 

Required Tools:
- rotary cutter + acrylic ruler 
- fabric scissors
- seam ripper
- pins and/or wonder clips
- chalk or frixion pen

Cancellation Policy:
If you are unable to attend the class, a refund will only be provided if you notify us 72 hours in advance in writing by email, there is a waitlist for the class, and we are able to fill your spot.  Otherwise, a credit for a future class will be issued.

No refunds or credits will be provided if you notify us less than 72 hours in advance. By registering for the class, you are agreeing to this cancellation policy.
