quilting series: "quiltsmart" lone star tree skirt

Tree Skirts are an essential decor item for the holiday season... join Valeria for a 4-week morning or evening session to learn how to make a beautiful and festive Lone Star tree skirt for your home.

Note:  Students may customize the design of their Lone Star - choose to make the design pictured, a 'scrappy' Lone Star, or create one of dozens of Lone Star variations to tailor the tree skirt to your style.  See Note under "Required Materials" regarding design choices.

In this class, students will learn how to make a Lone Star, a classic quilt design, in a fraction of the time using Quiltsmart interfacing. Quiltsmart’s motto is “Quilt smarter, not harder” and it rings true – their time saving products and techniques allow you to make heirloom quality quilts in a lot less time and with tons less frustration and seam ripping!

Traditional Lonestars involve tricky Y-seams and are difficult to piece while achieving perfect points. But with Quiltsmart, the Y-seam is completely avoided and perfectly matched points are a no-brainer. Plus, you’ll avoid having to work with fabric that is cut on the bias. With a clever method of fusing and sewing you'll have your very own custom-made Lone Star tree skirt.

This 4-week class is suitable for intermediate quilters.  Please note, there will be homework assigned by Valeria to be completed in between classes in order to ensure the tree skirt is finished within the allotted class time. For the evening session - we will be skipping class on Wednesday, November 27th for the holiday; class will conclude the following week on December 4th.
