The "Open Wide" bag from By Annie is a popular favorite amongst the sewing community as a storage solution for tools and notions.  Or, use it as a make-up bag or travel bag, as it easily stashes into your carry-on or suitcase.  This bag's design makes it a favorite because of the way the zipper in installed, allowing the bag to "open wide" at the top and making it super easy to see and access what's inside. 

Available in three sizes, this bag features (2) inner mesh pockets to keep your supplies organized and within view.  During class, we will be making the medium sized bag (6.5" H x 10.5" W x 5"D), leaving students with the confidence and knowledge to make the smaller or larger views at home if desired. With the holidays coming up, this bag is the perfect handmade gift to make for your loved ones.

During class, students will work with zippers, mesh fabric, fold-over elastic, and binding. This class is suitable for intermediate students that have prior bag making experience and are comfortable working with zippers.  Students must be able to confidently thread and operate a sewing machine independently.

Fabric + Material Requirements - Medium Size, 6.5" x 10.5" W x 5" D:
- (1) Pattern: Open Wide from By Annie
- (1) spool of coordinating thread
- 1/2 yd of quilting cotton for main fabric (body of the bag)
- 1/2 yd of quilting cotton for lining fabric (inside bag lining)
- 1/2 yd of coordinating fabric (border, end strap, bindings, zipper tab, zipper pull)
- 1/2 yd of Soft & Stable
- 1/8 yd of Pellon SF101
- 1-1/2 yds of fold-over elastic
- 12" x 12" mesh fabric (inner pockets)
- (1) 15" or longer single slide zipper
- optional decorative ribbon: 11" of 1" or 1-1/2" wide ribbon

Required Tools:
- rotary cutter
- fabric scissors
- acrylic ruler
- seam ripper
- chalk or frixion marker
- pins or clips

If you are unable to attend the class, a refund will only be provided if you notify us 72 hours in advance in writing by email, there is a waitlist, and we are able to fill your spot. Otherwise, a credit for a future class will be issued.
