Nothing compares to an oversized blouse when it comes to iconic wardrobe staples, and the Jenna Button-Up Shirt by Closet Core ticks all the boxes! Join our talented garment instructor, Alissa, for a weekend-long class this October to make this classic button-down.
Perfectly proportioned and filled with polished and classic shirting details, the Jenna Button-Up Blouse features a loose fit, drop shoulder, deep back yoke, chest pocket, traditional shirt collar and collar stand, and long sleeves with a classic tower placket and cuff. A dream styling piece that pairs with just about everything, this blouse will breathe new life into your closet.
The pattern offers three views - View A is the perfect everyday button-up shirt, ending below the seat with a deeply curved hem. View B is a cropped button-up shirt with a straight hem, while View C is a shirtdress with a gathered skirt panel. In this class, students have the option of choosing to make View A or View B, and will leave class with the knowledge and confidence to tackle View C on their own. The pattern accommodates Sizes XXS (31" bust, 33" hip) - 4X (60" bust, 62" hip), making it a versatile pattern for many different body shapes and types.
Class Breakdown: Class will start off with a cutting session on Friday, October 25th, and during this time students will trace their pattern and cut fabric so that it is ready to begin construction the following morning. Garment construction will begin on Saturday, October 26th and finish on Sunday, October 27th. If students are unable to attend the cutting session on Friday, they must arrive to class on Saturday with all fabric cut out and ready to construct.
During class, students will learn how sew a back yoke, how to sew a collar and collar stand, how to install buttons, and will practice basic hemming techniques. This class is suitable for intermediate to advanced students who have prior garment sewing experience. Students must be able to confidently thread and operate a sewing machine independently.
Required Materials:
- (1) Pattern: Jenna Button-Up Shirt
- fabric - yardage is dependent on size of blouse being made; please refer to the pattern for accurate measurements
- 1/2 yd of Pellon SF101 fusible interfacing
- 13-15mm shirt buttons - you will need (12) buttons if making View A or (10) buttons if making View B
- (1) spool of coordinating thread
Recommended Fabrics:
We suggest using light to medium-weight woven fabrics. For a structured look, choose wovens such as chambray. For a softer, loose fitting look, choose linen, rayon, viscose, cotton or flannel.

- acrylic ruler
- chalk or frixion marker
- pins or clips

If you are unable to attend the class, a refund will only be provided if you notify us 72 hours in advance in writing by email, there is a waitlist, and we are able to fill your spot. Otherwise, a credit for a future class will be issued.
