quilting skills: scrappy trip around the world

Learn how to make a "Scrappy Trip Around the World" block in this 2.5-hour demo class.  In this class, students will learn and practice the proper way to sew strips of fabric together and how to perfect those nesting seams by making a 12" block.  You will leave class with the knowledge to enhance the project - you may add your block to pillow or build off what you started in our studio to make your very own quilt.

This is such a fun quilting project and a great way to use up 2-1/2" wide fabric scraps from your stash!  The design is based off the "Many Trips Around the World" pattern, which features a radiating scrappy diamond around each center square.  Students will follow along with a handout (included in class) while simultaneously making their own 12" block. If time permits, students may be able to make (2) blocks in class.

This demo-style class is suitable for advanced beginner to intermediate quilting students who have prior quilting experience.  Graduates of our Quilting 101 class, or those with an equivalent experience level, are encouraged to register!

Required Materials:
- (1) Handout: Scrappy Trip Around the World - will be provided to you in class!
- (6) fat quarters of quilting cotton in coordinating prints
- (1) spool of coordinating thread

Required Tools:
- rotary cutter
- seam ripper
- pins or forked pins - forked pins are optional but are very helpful for this project!

If you are unable to attend the class, a refund will only be provided if you notify us 72 hours in advance in writing by email and there is a waitlist for the class, and we are able to fill your spot.  Otherwise, a credit for a future class will be issued.
