sewing 201: stateside pillow

Ready to practice your patchwork and applique skills?  Join us in the studio this November to make your very own Stateside Pillow by Studio M Squared!

The Stateside Pillow features three stars on the front panel that coordinate with the backing fabric and 11 stripes of accent fabric behind the stars. This adorable pillow is easily customizable for all ages and seasons of the year!  We encourage our students to get creative with their fabric selections to really make this pillow stand out from the rest in your home. This is a great project to use up some fabrics from your fabric stash, and how cute would it be in holiday fabrics?!

The first class will consist of cutting your fabric and deciding on the patchwork layout, leaving the second class for pillow construction and completion. This 2-week class is suitable for confident beginner to intermediate students who have prior sewing experience.  Students must be able to confidently thread and operate a sewing machine independently.

Required Materials:
- (1) Pattern: Stateside Pillow by Studio M Squared
- 1/2 yd of quilting cotton for Fabric A (stars and pillow backing)
- 1/4 yd of quilting cotton for Fabric B (star background)
- (1) fat eighth of quilting cotton for Fabric C (light blue stripes)
- (3) fat eighths of quilting cotton for Fabrics D, E + F (pink, orange, green stripes)
- 1/4 yd of Heat n Bond Lite
- 1/4 yd of Stitch n Tear Stabilizer
- (1) 16" tall x 27" wide piece of batting
- (1) 16" tall x 27" wide piece of muslin
- (1) 12" x 22" pillow insert
- (1) spool of coordinating thread

- rotary cutter or fabric scissors
- acrylic ruler
- chalk or frixion marker
- pins or clips

If you are unable to attend the class, a refund will only be provided if you notify us 72 hours in advance in writing by email and there is a waitlist for the class, and we are able to fill your spot.  Otherwise, a credit for a future class will be issued.

No refunds or credits will be provided if you notify us less than 72 hours in advance. By registering for the class, you are agreeing to this cancellation policy.
