quilting series: t-shirt pillow
Make a great gift for your loved ones this holiday season! Come and join us in the studio to make a quick and easy keepsake project - we'll turn any graphic t-shirt (college, high school, sports, etc.) into a fun pillow with coordinating fabric borders.
This class is suitable for confident beginner sewists who can thread and operate a sewing machine independently and have experience using a rotary cutter. Graduates of our Quilting 101 or Sewing 101 Intensive classes are encouraged to register for this class!
Required Materials:
- (1) T-Shirt of your choosing
- 5/8 yd of Pellon SF101
- (1) square pillow insert - either 16" or 18" - wait until you've finalized your design to purchase the pillow insert
- border and pillow back fabrics - see "Fabric Notes" below
Fabric Notes:
- For the border and pillow back fabric(s) - actual yardage needed depends on the final design. We recommend that students pick out their fabrics before class, and wait until the final design has been determined to know how much fabric to cut. Our staff will cut your fabrics for you downstairs in the shop and then you can return to the studio to begin sewing.
- We recommend 1/4 yd for any fabrics you would like to use on the front of the pillow for border/sashing/cornerstones, and 5/8 yd for your pillow back fabric.
Required Tools:
- rotary cutter
- acrylic ruler
- fabric scissors
- chalk or frixion marker
- pins or clips
