serger 201: two-hour tablecloth

Sergers are not just for garment making!  Using a serger to make this beautiful tablecloth allows you to create a patchwork design with completely finished seams so it's fully machine washable with no fear of fraying! Skip the store-bought tablecloth and join Nancy in the studio to whip up one yourself with a few yards of fabric and our trusty Janome overlock machines.

During this 3-hour class, students will cut their fabric then sew up their tablecloth with our classroom sergers.  Students will learn how to convert the machine to a rolled hem stitch to easily and quickly finish the raw edges.

The finished tablecloth measures approximately 73" x 73" and fits round tables up to 60" in diameter or small square/rectangular tables.  This class is open to all level of students who have prior sewing experience.  Prior serger experience is not required, but highly helpful!

Required Materials:
- (1) Pattern: Two-hour Tablecloth by Studio M Squared - will be provided to students for free!
- main fabric: 1-1/4 yds of quilting cotton
- inner border: 1-5/8 yds of quilting cotton**
- outer border: 2-1/8 yds of quilting cotton**

Recommended Fabrics:
- We recommend using quilting cotton or similar weight fabric. 
** Directional prints are not recommended for the border fabrics due to the nature of the cutting layouts.

Required Tools:
- rotary cutter
- fabric scissors
- acrylic ruler
- seam ripper
- chalk or frixion marker
- pins or clips

If you are unable to attend, a refund will only be provided if you notify us 72 hours in advance in writing by email, there is a waitlist for the class, AND we are able to fill your spot.  Otherwise, a credit for a future class will be issued.
