knitting 401 series: throwover/throwback sweater
Advance your colorwork skills in our brand-new evening series making the Throwover Sweater or Throwback Cardigan by Andrea Mowry. Students will have the option of choosing to make the Throwback (cardigan) or Throwover (pullover) in class.
Inspired by Andrea's childhood memories of growing up in the mountains, the Throwover + Throwback are practical sweaters that are both comfortable and beautiful. The Throwover Sweater is a classic sweater knit top-down with a deep collar that transitions into a colorwork round yoke, while the Throwback Cardigan is a classic cardigan knit flat from the top down. The sleeves are knit in the round.
This class is suitable for advanced knitters looking to expand their skills in colorwork. There will be homework assigned by the instructor for students to complete in between classes. Please note, if students are interested in making the cardigan, there will be (1) extra week of class in order to finish the project on time (the last class will meet on June 3rd). If you choose to make the sweater, class will only meet for six sessions (the last class will meet on May 20th).
Required Materials:
- (1) Pattern: Throwover Sweater or Throwback Cardigan by Andrea Mowry - both are PDF downloads from Ravelry
- worsted weight yarn in (4) colors
- color A (main color): 980 (1075, 1185, 1335) (1455, 1620, 1740) yds
- colors B, C + D (contrast colors): 150 yds each
- please refer to the pattern for accurate sizing measurements to determine how much yardage of yarn you'll need
- waste yarn
Recommended Yarn:
- Berroco Vintage
- Rowan Pure Wool Worsted
- Cascade 220 Superwash Merino - recommended for contrasting colors

- US Size 8 Needle - 16" and 32"
- US Size 7 Needle - 16" and 32"

Cancellation Policy:
If you are unable to attend the class, a refund will only be provided if you notify us 72 hours in advance in writing by email, there is a waitlist for the class, and we are able to fill your spot. Otherwise, a credit for a future class will be issued.
