quilting series: folded star hot pad
Join us for a fun day of quilting to make the Folded Star Hot Pad with our quilting instructor Mandy. The construction of this hot pad is done by folding and layering fabrics in a specific arrangement to achieve the beautiful star design, hence its name!
This project is a great way to use up your scraps or to utilize a fat quarter bundle you've been saving for a special project. It's also a great class for practicing your binding skills.
This class is suitable for graduates of our Quilting 101 course or those with an equivalent skill level. Some quilting experience is a must.
Required Materials:
- (1) Pattern: Fancy Folded Star Potholder by Not Only Quilts for Moda - this pattern is a free online tutorial, please print a copy so you can follow along in class and make notes
- 4 to 7 fat quarters for star (if using less than 7, you will repeat fabrics in the star)
- (1) fat quarter for background
- 12" square of batting
- 1/2 yd of quilting cotton for backing + binding
- (1) spool of neutral color thread to match the star fabric
Recommended Fabric:
We recommend using quilting cotton for this project. Our staff is more than happy to help you with your fabric selections!
Required Tools:
- clover hot press ruler
- rotary cutter
- seam gauge
- seam ripper
- pins or clips
- chalk or frixion pen

If you are unable to attend, a refund will only be provided if you notify us 72 hours in advance in writing by email, there is a waitlist for the class, AND we are able to fill your spot. Otherwise, a credit for a future class will be issued.
