garment series: archer button up

Hey garment makers! Are you ready to tackle a button up? We have the perfect class for you starting right after New Years. Join us in the studio this January to learn how to make the classic Archer Button Up by Grainline Studio!

The Archer Button Up is a loosely fitted button up shirt with slightly dropped shoulders and long sleeves. The pattern comes in two views – View A has a traditional box pleat at the back yoke and angled cuffs, while View B has a gathered lowered back detail and straight cuffs. The pattern accommodates sizes 0-18.

During this 3-week garment series, students will learn the following techniques: setting sleeves, creating continuous button plackets, adding a shirt collar, and inserting buttons and buttonholes. The skills learned in class are essential in taking your garment-sewing journey to the next level!

This class is suitable for intermediate level students.  Ideally, students should have taken our Garment 101 class or have some prior garment making experience.

Required Materials:
- (1) Pattern: Archer Button Up by Grainline Studio
- fabric – yardage is dependent on size being made - refer to pattern jacket for details
- 1 yd light weight fusible interfacing, we recommend Pellon SF101
- 1 spool of coordinating thread
- (9) 3/8” or 1/2" buttons

Recommended Fabric:
Light to medium weight woven fabrics, such as cotton, linen, linen blends, flannel, chambray, or lightweight denim. Our staff is more than happy to help you with your selections! We highly recommend students wash and dry their fabric prior to the start of class to prevent any future shrinking of fabric.

Required Tools:
- fabric scissors and detail scissors
- pins and/or wonder clips
- seam ripper
- seam gauge
- chalk or frixion pen

If you are unable to attend the class, a refund will only be provided if you notify us 72 hours in advance in writing by email, there is a waitlist, and we are able to fill your spot. Otherwise, a credit for a future class will be issued.
