knitting 301 series: no frills sweater
Ready to kick off the New Year with your next knitting project? Join us in the studio for this 5-week knitting series featuring the No Frills Sweater by Petite Knits!
No Frills Sweater is a simple adult raglan sweater with neckline shaping at the front. The fit is slightly oversized, but the wide rib edges and the shorter length give the sweater a feminine silhouette. The No Frills Sweater is worked from the top down, which makes it easy to try it on along the way, so you can customize it to fit your body and end up with the perfect sleeve and body length for you. The pattern accommodates sizes XS - 3XL so once you learn how to make one, you can continue your knitting journey by making more for your loved ones!
During class, students will learn how to make a raglan sweater with no seams. Students will learn short rows and how to accurately swatch for a sweater. This 5-week series will be structured as followed: class will meet for the first two consecutive weeks, then break for the following two weeks. During this 2-week break, students will be required to complete homework assigned by the instructor. After break, class will meet for 2 consecutive weeks, and then break again for two weeks to complete the remainder of the homework. After the second break, students will meet for the fifth and final class where they will finish the final steps of the project and voila - you will have a beautiful, handmade knitted sweater!
Required Materials:
- (1) Pattern: No Frills Sweater by Petite Knit (available on Ravelry)
- DK weight yarn - we suggest the following:
- Berroco Vintage DK
- Malabrigo Arroyo
- Schoppel DK
- Hikoo Sueno
- Berroco Vento
- scrap yarn for holding sleeve stitches
Yardage:
- XS + S: 1,150 yds of DK Weight Yarn
- M + L: 1,542 yds of DK Weight Yarn
- XL + 2XL: 1,799 yds of DK Weight Yarn
- 3XL: 2,056 yds of DK Weight Yarn
Required Needles:
- US 3 circular needle: choose from Knitter's Pride Dreamz - 16" or 32" or ChiaoGoo's 16", 32" or 40"
- US 6 circular needle: choose from Knitter's Pride Dreamz - 16", 32" or 40"
Required Tools:
- ring markers
- locking stitch markers
- chibi tapestry needles
- scissors
- tape measure

If you are unable to attend the class, a refund will only be provided if you notify us 72 hours in advance in writing by email and there is a waitlist for the class, and we are able to fill your spot. Otherwise, a credit for a future class will be issued.
