garment series: hovea jacket
Get a jump start on your winter wardrobe with the gorgeous Hovea Jacket by Megan Nielsen. This jacket/coat is a perfect warmer layer with a loose fit drop shoulder. The pattern offers something for every taste, with three different lengths for a cropped jacket, mid length jacket or a full-length coat. A different jacket for every occasion!
The pattern also features the best deep angled pockets! The Hovea can be quilted as a warmer garment option, or if you're looking for more of a minimalist look, the pattern also includes unlined and fully lined options.
During class, we will be making Views A, C and E. We recommend medium to heavy weight fabrics, such as linen + cottons.
Pattern includes sizes 0-20. Yardage for fabric depends on size of garment being made, indicated on the pattern. Megan Nielsen also offers this pattern in curve sizes (14-24). Both patterns are available for purchase in our shop.

Students should attend class with all required materials purchased, however if you need to shop for materials on the day of class, please arrive to the shop twenty minutes before class starts to ensure you have enough time to shop. Additionally, we recommend pre-washing your fabric for garment projects. Please note, there may be homework assigned in between class times to ensure you'll finish your jacket on time.
Required Materials:
- (1) Hovea Jacket Pattern by Megan Nielsen (sizes 0-20)
- or (1) Hovea Jacket Pattern by Megan Nielsen (sizes 14-24)
- lining, refer to pattern for direction on lining, dependent on specific view.
- 1/3 yd of light fusible interfacing for collar (view A, C & E)
- quilt batting, refer to pattern for views A, C & E.
- (1) spool of coordinating thread
Required Tools:
- fabric scissors
- pins and/or wonder clips
- seam ripper
- chalk or frixion pen
Cancellation Policy:
If you are unable to attend the class, a refund will only be provided if you notify us 72 hours in advance in writing by email and there is a waitlist for the class, and we are able to fill your spot. Otherwise, a credit for a future class will be issued.
No refunds or credits will be provided if you notify us less than 72 hours in advance. By registering for the class, you are agreeing to this cancellation policy.
