knitting 301: vintage lace hat
Get ready for the winter weather and join us to knit up the Vintage Lace Hat by Von Poppie. This fun colorwork beanie hat knits up quickly on circular needles and is a stylish accessory to any winter outfit. Get creative with your yarn color selections to really highlight the design within the pattern. We recommend using a light color yarn if you want to emphasize the border to look like lace. The pattern offers four hat sizes: newborn, toddler, S/M and M/L. Once you learn how to knit your first hat, you'll be able to confidently make more hats in different sizes to gift to your friends and family this holiday season!
This is an intermediate/advanced class so students should have prior experience with knitting in the round and be able to do a stockinette and rib stitch. This is a perfect class for anyone looking to refresh their colorwork skills!
Please note, there may be homework in between classes to ensure students finish their hat on time.

- worsted weight yarn, we recommend the following yarn:
- Berroco Vintage
- Cascade 220
- Malabrigo Rios
Required Tools:
- stitch markers or ring markers
- tapestry needle
Required Needles: circular 16"-17"
Yardage:
- M/L: MC and CC1 50gr/1.8oz (100m/109 yards)
- S/M: MC and CC1 50gr/1.8oz (100m/109 yards)
- toddler: MC and CC1 40gr/1.4 oz (80m/87.5 yards)
- newborn: MC and CC1 30gr/1.05 oz (60m/ 65yards)
Gauge:
- 24 stitches and 30 rows = 4 inches
