quilting series: book nook quilt

We are excited to offer you the chance to make this beautiful quilt featuring the Book Nook pattern by Pen + Paper Patterns!

The Book Nook is a traditionally pieced quilt that measures 64 1/2" x 70 1/2". The sizes of the blocks within the quilt, "Best Seller" and "Personal Library", finish 9 1/2" x 12" and 12" square respectively. The pattern also includes a bonus "Open Book" block pattern, which finishes 9 1/2" x 7" and is great for quilt labels, tote bags, pillows and more! Perfect for gifting to someone who is a book worm or writer - or keep it for yourself as your new favorite handmade quilt!

During class, our instructor Mandy will help you through the cutting and construction of the full-sized quilt top, leaving students to finish the quilt at home after the series concludes. Students will learn precise cutting, tiny piecing, tips on sewing diagonal seams, and practice one at a time flying geese stitches. Please note that homework will be required in order to complete the quilt top over the six-week series. 

If you'd like to finish your quilt in the studio, we suggest registering for one of our fun and social WIP (Work In Progress) nights! Please note, there is no formal instruction during our WIP classes, however students are welcomed to use our sewing machines, and an instructor will be present to assist with any questions or troubleshooting you may have.

This class is suitable for intermediate students who have completed our quilting 101 class or have an equivalent experience level.

Required Materials:
- Book Nook Quilt pattern by Paper + Pen Patterns
- 3/4 yd of fabric for colors 1-4 for book covers + bookmarks
- 3/8 yd of fabric for colors 5-8 for the book pages
- 2-1/3 yds of background fabric
- 4 yds of backing fabric
- 5/8 yd of binding fabric
- 1 spool of coordinating thread

Required Tools:
- rotary cutter and/or fabric scissors
- acrylic ruler
- pins and/or wonder clips
- seam ripper
- chalk or friction pen

If you are unable to attend, a refund will only be provided if you notify us 72 hours in advance in writing by email, there is a waitlist for the class, AND we are able to fill your spot.  Otherwise, a credit for a future class will be issued.
