knitting series 301: cable knit hat

Join us in July to knit a cozy cabled hat. Yes! We know it's Summer but now is the perfect time to knit up your Winter accessories! This hat will make the perfect handmade holiday gift.

In class we will be making #34 Piper Hat by Yankee Knitter Designs.  The Piper Hat is a simple cable hat, knit on circular needles. It can be knit using a worsted or bulky weight yarn. The sizing runs from baby through to Adult Large. 

This is a great first class to learn how to knit cables. This class is for our intermediate knitters who want to learn how to knit cables. Students need to be confident in the knit, purl and rib stitch. 

This class will be taught in the same session as the cable mittens class. Good news though! - a second session has been added for those who are interested in creating both projects. The second session starts the following week after the conclusion of the first session.

Required Materials:

(1) Pattern - #34 Piper Hat by Yankee knitter designs. Pattern will be available to purchase in the shop. 

Yarn must be purchased from our shop to ensure you have the correct materials for the class. 

Yardage will be dependent on whether you are using worsted or bulky yarn and the size you are knitting. Please refer to the pattern for your yardage requirement. 

If using worsted weight yarn we recommend Cascade 220, Malabrigo Rios or Berrocco Vintage 

If using bulky yarn we recommend Malabrigo Mecha or Berrocco Vintage Chunky

Please have yarn wound and ready to be knit with at the start of the class. 

Required tools
- Needles for worsted weight yarn US 5 and US7 16" circular. Available to purchase in the shop. 
- Needles for bulky yarn, US 9 and 10.5 16" circular
- Cable stitch holder, available here
- chibi tapestry or darning needle
- locking stitch markers (available here) 
- scissors
-notebook & pencil

Please have yarn wound and ready to be knit with at the start of the class.

Cancellation Policy:

If you are unable to attend, a refund will only be provided if you notify us 72 hrs in advance in writing by email, there is a waitlist for the class, AND we are able to fill your spot.  Otherwise, a credit for a future class will be issued.
