summer series: garment sewing intensive - cielo top
Join us July Mon 17th- Thur 20th 10.30-12.30 for a week of summer garment 101.
Who can take this class? Open to adults and teens aged 16+ who have completed our sewing 101 or are confident independently using a sewing machine.
Durin class students will make the Cielo top by Closet Core.
The Cielo top has two options - a basic cuffed short sleeve or a dramatic gathered long sleeve.
We will systematically walk you through the foundations of garment making starting with a deep dive into all things pattern, how to read the instruction envelope and the pattern itself. You will learn how to take your measurements, choose a size and make pattern modifications. We will discuss choosing the best fabric for your project and work through preparing the fabric, pattern tracing and cutting out your pattern.
Whilst sewing making the Cielo top, you will learn to professionally sew a neck facing, make gathered sleeves, sew darts and how to hem.
Students will not only receive instruction on these steps but will have sufficient time during the class to work on and master these skills under the guidance of the instructor.
Note: This course is designed with enough work time that you should be able to finish the garments but there may be homework to finish within the course time frames.

Closet Core’s Cielo pattern (available here)
Fabric yardage depending on size being made. We recommend you purchase the fabric after the first class when you have taken your measurements as fabric requirement is dependent on size.
1/4 yd fusible interfacing (for top), available to buy in the shop
(1) spool coordinating thread, available to buy in the shop.

If you are unable to attend the class, a refund will only be provided if you notify us 72 hrs in advance in writing by email and there is a waitlist for the class, and we are able to fill your spot. Otherwise, a credit for a future class will be issued.
