christmas in july series: holiday quilt
We are getting festive early this year... Join us in July to make a special quilt in time for the Holidays!
This year we are offering a choice in pattern; you can choose between either Retro Ornaments by Lo & Behold Stitchery or Snowflake by Modern Handcraft.
The Retro Ornaments pattern has a modern twist whilst being inspired by vintage Christmas ornaments. The pattern is available in either throw size (64 x 64") or Bed (96 x 96"). Whilst working on your retro ornaments, you will learn how to accurately cut and sew curves.
The Snowflake quilt pattern by Modern Handcraft has a modern and minimalistic design. The pattern is available in one size (60 x 72") Twin. You can either go with a large block assembly for the background in either 1 or 4 colors or go with a fat quarter scrappy version- the choice is yours! Whilst working on your Snowflake quilt you will learn how to sew half square triangles, how to cut accurately cut your fabric as well as how to nest your seams.
Regardless of the pattern you choose, in class we will help you through the cutting and construction of the quilt top leaving students to finish the quilt after six weeks You can attend our quilt finishing classes or speak to us about having your quilt professionally long armed.
There will be the need for homework to complete the quilt top over the six-week series. The larger the quilt, the more homework you will need to do to complete.
If you choose the scrappy version of the snowflake quilt this will also require more homework that the solid version.
This class is suitable for students who have completed our quilting 101 series or who have prior quilting experience.
Required Materials:
- (1) Pattern: choose between Retro Ornaments by Lo & Behold Stitchery or Snowflake by Modern Handcraft.
- Fabric yardage dependent on the pattern and size of quilt being made. Please refer to the pattern for your fabric requirements. We will have a wide selection of beautiful new Holiday fabrics arriving in the shop soon!

- For retro ornament: using a non slip vinyl template is a useful tool for this pattern, available here.
- For the snowflake pattern: we recommend using the bloc loc ruler, available here.
Cancellation Policy:
If you are unable to attend, a refund will only be provided if you notify us 72 hrs in advance in writing by email, there is a waitlist for the class, AND we are able to fill your spot. Otherwise a credit for a future class will be issued.
No refunds or credits will be provided if you notify us less than 72 hrs in advance. By registering for the class, you are agreeing to this cancellation policy
