Want to learn how to hem your garments? This is the class for you!
During class students will learn a wide array of hemming techniques that you can use to hem your pants, shorts, skirts or even curtains.
The hem finishes off the bottom edge of any sewn item; the choice depends on both the weight or the fabric and the style of the garment. Although the construction of a hem is very simple, there are many different ways of achieving a neat result.
During class students will learn how to sew the following hemming techniques:
- Double- and single-fold hem
- Narrow hem, with and without a rolled hem foot
- Bias faced hem
- Seam tape hem
- Blind hem
- Hand stitched slip stitch hem
This class is perfect for students who have completed our garment sewing 101 or can independently use a sewing machine.
All materials and tools will be provided for this class. You will come away from class with the hemmed swatches you worked on plus a handy reference guide.
Cancellation Policy:If you are unable to attend, a refund will only be provided if you notify us 72 hrs in advance in writing by email, there is a waitlist for the class, AND we are able to fill your spot. Otherwise, a credit for a future class will be issued.
