garments series: pietra shorts

Join instructor Lauren to make her favorite summer staple..the Pietra shorts by Closet Core patterns!

These shorts are a dream! With a flat front, high-waisted silhouette with the comfort of an elastic waist in the back. They feature lengthening panels in the front with deep slanted hip pockets and a hidden waist stay, they are so comfortable you’ll never want to take them off.

Pattern includes sizes ranging from 0-20. 

Material requirements:
- Pietra shorts pattern by Closet core patterns, available here
- Fabric, yardage will depend on the size you are making, please refer to the pattern.

This pattern works best with a structured woven fabric like a canvas, denim or twill. This fabric gives the shorts a crisp defined shape.

We have a wide selection of fabrics available on-line and in the shop and our shop staff are more than happy to help with your fabric selection and requirements. 
We made our sample from the beautiful summer folk canvas available here.

- (1yd) 2" wide elastic, available here
- Lightweight non-stretch fusible interfacing, we recommend Pellon 911 for use with a canvas or similar weight fabric and SF101 for a lightweight fabric. Both available here
- Coordinating polyester thread

Required tools: 

- Fabric scissors
- Pins and/or wonder clips
- seam ripper
- chalk or friction pen
- detail scissors

If you are unable to attend the class, a refund will only be provided if you notify us 72 hrs in advance in writing by email and there is a waitlist for the class, and we are able to fill your spot.  Otherwise, a credit for a future class will be issued.
