english paper piecing: paper kites wall hanging

English Paper piecing, referred to as EPP, is a form of quilt making which is sewn by hand. The technique involves stabilizing fabric pieces with paper before sewing them into intricate designs. Because EPP is done by hand, it makes a great on-the-go project perfect for summer trips! 

During this class we will be making the Paper Kites wall hanging by Lou Orth Designs. If you have never done EPP this class is perfect for beginners. We will talk you through the cutting and preparation, basting, assembly and finishing your panel. 

The finished size is 11" x 10".  Students may need to work at home in order to finish the project in the three-week period.

Students must arrive to class on time, with all materials purchased. If you wish to purchase your materials on the day of class, please arrive at least 30 minutes early. 

Required Materials:

• (1) Paper kites- EPP pattern by Lou Orth Designs.
• (12) 1/8 yd cuts of quilting cotton
  
• 1/2 yd fusible fleece 
• 1/2 yd backing fabric (quilting cotton)
• aurafil thread (WT50) -  available to purchase in the shop
• 50g of yarn for tassels - we have a selection available in the shop
• Approx 2-1/2 ft of ribbon or string for hanger. 
• Wooden dowel for hanging will be provided to you
  

• paper piecing glue, will be available to purchase in the shop
• hand piecing needles (size 10) 

If you are unable to attend the class, a refund will only be provided if you notify us 72 hrs in advance in writing by email and there is a waitlist for the class and we are able to fill your spot.  Otherwise a credit for a future class will be issued.
