knitting series : make your own socks
it's time to make your own pair of socks!
In this class you will learn to knit a cozy pair of socks from the top down using worsted weight yarn.
In class students will also learn how to:
- make socks for all your family and friends in all different weight yarns.
- the anatomy of a sock and how to custom fit
- knit in the round using Magic loop or double pointed needles
- reinforce heel
- turning the heel
- Kitchener stitch.

Required Materials:
- pattern - Classic Sock #29 by Yankee Knitter (purchase from Ravelry: #29 Classic Socks- baby, child & adult socks pattern by Melinda Goodfellow
- yarn - 1 ball or skein of worsted weight yarn (Approx 220yds). It is suggested that the yarn should contain 15 - 20% nylon for strength.

Please have yarn wound and ready to be knit with at the start of the class.
Required tools:
- needles - US5 32” or 40” circular needle OR US5 Double pointed needles
- chibi tapestry or darning needle
- scissors
- notebook & pencil

Need to be confident in the knit and purl stitch, ideally how to do the rib stitch but not essential. Cast on and cast off.
There will be homework involved in order to finish your project.
