bag series: retreat bag

From Emmaline Bags, this pattern is the next level up on a simple zipper pouch. The Retreat Bag is a simple zippered pouch with a wide base and a wide structured opening. There is a casing in the top where you insert two wire frames (one on each side), which helps it stay open when open, and helps turn the corners down when closed. It has two optional slip pockets inside and a long zipper that helps it open wide. Perfect use as a sewing project bag, a makeup or toiletry bag - the possibilities are endless!

The Retreat Bag is available in two sizes - the approximate finished sizes are:
Small (S): length: 8.5", height: 5", width: 4"
Large (L): length: 11", height: 6/5", width: 7 1/4"

This class is suitable for advanced beginner students who are confident in operating a sewing machine independently. 

Required Materials: (S=small bag, L=large bag)
- (1) Pattern: The Retreat Bag by Emmaline Bags (free PDF pattern)
- exterior fabric: (S): 1 FQ or (L): 1/2 yd
- lining fabric: (S): 1/2 yd or (L): 3/4 yd
- 20" fusible interfacing: (S): 1 yd or (L): 1-1/2 yd - we recommend Pellon 911F or Pellon SF101
- fusible fleece: (S): 25"x8" or (L): 1/2 yd - we recommend Pellon TP971 Thermolam Plus Fusible Fleece
- (2) internal wireframes - Style A is for the small bag, Style B is for the large bag
- (1) 22" closed-end nylon zipper (works for either sized bag)
- (1) spool of coordinating thread

We have specially curated kits available, both in the small and large sizes. The kits include all the supplies you will need for class, however tools are not included and must be purchased separately.

Required Tools:
- rotary cutter and acrylic ruler OR fabric scissors
- seam ripper
- seam gauge
- pins and/or wonder clips
- chalk or frixion pen

If you are unable to attend the class, a refund will only be provided if you notify us 72 hours in advance in writing by email and there is a waitlist for the class, and we are able to fill your spot.  Otherwise, a credit for a future class will be issued.

No refunds or credits will be provided if you notify us less than 72 hours in advance. By registering for the class, you are agreeing to this cancellation policy.
