Also known as Prairie Points, the Alabama Pine Burr, and the Folded Star, the Somerset Star is a traditional block with timeless appeal.  Join Meg Fahrenbach of Tea + Brie in this 2-part class to learn how to make this whimsical block.  This class is for experts and beginners alike!  Students will assemble a 10" block to use as a wall hanging or trivet/hot pad.

Who can take this class?
Adults and teens (16 and up)
All skill levels; only requirement is that students are able to independently operate a sewing machine

Required Materials:
Students MUST bring their own iron to this class
     (3) pre-cut charm packs or between (96) and (126) 5" squares
     (1) 12" square of Sulky Soft n Sheer permanent cut-away stabilizer
     (1) 12" square of batting OR Insul-Brite if you're making a trivet
     (1) 12" square of coordinating fabric for backing

A note about fabric selection:  We will be folding fabric and arranging them in layers to make this block.  The star is built with layers that consist of either 8 or 16 folded 5" squares.  When choosing your fabrics, make sure that you are happy with both colors and prints when used in combinations of 16.  Also note that it is best to avoid fabrics with large prints.
