sewing 101: learn to sew!

In this 2-1/2 hour workshop you will learn all the basics of the timeless craft of sewing.  We'll start with a lesson on all the necessary sewing tools and a general overview of fabric types and sewing terms.  Then you'll learn how to wind a bobbin, thread a machine, and sew several types of stitches.  Finally, you'll put your new skills to use and make a drawstring bag!

This class is perfect for anyone who has little to no sewing experience as well as those who have not sewn for years and need a good refresher.

Students will need to provide the following materials:

 - (2) coordinating fabrics for the drawstring bag (one for outside of bag, one for lining).  Each needs to be at least 18" x 22" (fat quarters work great.

 - (1) spool of coordinating thread (100% cotton)
