In our two hour beginner workshop, kids ages 9 & up will learn how to use a sewing machine. We will teach basic sewing machine knowledge, how to wind a bobbin, thread the machine and how to sew a straight stitch. Students will choose make a drawstring bag to take home in this workshop. All materials included in cost of class.
Students who are 7 or 8 years old may attend our Parent/Child Beginner Workshop - register here: Parent/Child
This class is a prerequisite to our after-school courses for kids and teens. It is important for students to know how to operate a machine before starting after-school classes - please plan to take the beginner workshop before the start of their first session with us!
Note: PLEASE be on time for class - students receive essential information in the first 15 minutes of class. Students arriving late will not be permitted in the classroom.
We have modified our classes to comply with the CDC guidelines and NJ Executive Order 152. Classes will be limited in size, each students station will be at least 6 feet away from the other and whilst they are able to maintain social distancing students are not required to wear a mask, however where social distancing cannot be maintained (e.g. moving around the classroom) masks will be required, so please ensure you bring one. The instructor will be wearing one. For the purposes of Beginner sewing classes only, tools will be sanitized in between classes, however, if a student does wish to continue with other classes, students will be required to provide their own tools as identified within the relevant class description.
